Curbside Cycle is excited to introduce Brompton Exchange - a chance for you to trade-up your Brompton for a new model while Curbside breathes new life into your EX-Brompton. 

A cyclist’s needs are bound to change over time, and it’s our goal to keep you riding in comfort on the bike that speaks to you in the moment. 

Brompton Exchange will help you switch up your ride more affordably and introduce EX-Bromptons to our lineup at a more accessible price point. AND, we’re all doing our part to be green by keeping each bike on the road for as long as possible. 

Trading in Your Brompton

Trading in your Brompton will earn you Curbside Credit to be used on your new bike purchase. Here’s how it works:

1. Book an appointment with our service team. Our Service Writer will evaluate your bike and determine if it is eligible for Brompton Exchange. 

We are currently accepting all good condition non-electric Brompton models for evaluation.  Note: you must bring your original proof of purchase for your bike

2. If eligible, leave your bike with us so we can do a full assessment and determine our costs for any repairs as well as our retail price for the refurbished bike. (this might take a few days depending on workshop capacity).

3. We will contact you with a quote for the Curbside Credit we’re able to offer you. The quote will be valid for 30 days while you decide if you’d like to accept, but the credit will not expire.

4. Shop the Curbside lineup and use your credit towards the purchase of a new bike!

*Please note, Curbside will not be offering cash for any trade-ins. We also cannot confirm whether your bike is eligible for trade-in until after it is evaluated by our mechanics in person. We require you to provide us with a proof of purchase for the bike.

Buying an EX-Brompton

All our refurbished Bromptons undergo a critical assessment, a 28 point plus safety and quality inspection and thorough in-house servicing by our expert Brompton mechanics.  Every trade-in will receive a new chain, cogset and brakepads (regardless of wear). We use genuine Brompton replacement parts (or upgraded equivalents) to ensure performance and durability. The bike may have minor signs of wear and tear, but it will ride and fold just like you would expect from a Brompton. 

* Please note: refurbished Bromptons will not have manufacturer’s warranty, but like any new bike we sell, we offer a complimentary tune up within the first 3 months of riding and you can consult with our expert mechanics at any time

We believe in the quality, durability, and credibility of Brompton Bicycles.  Each bike is hand-made in London, UK, then shipped across the ocean to Toronto, ridden and loved by its original owner, and will now have the opportunity to unfold more adventures with you!  We hope that Brompton Exchange will help to keep Brompton bikes on the road for longer and give everyone a chance to Enter the Fold.

Which bikes will be available?

All non-electric bikes: ( subject to availability).

C Line (formerly eg. M6L) (2, 3, or 6 speed)

P Line (formerly Superlight) (4 speed, 6-speed)

 

Can I use my trade-in credit for other services?

Not at this time. Your Brompton credit may only be used towards a new Brompton or other bicycle purchase at Curbside Cycle.

Can I receive cash for my trade-in?

No. We only offer in-store credit for your bike at this time.

Will my used Brompton have a manufacturer's warranty?

No; however, we offer a complimentary check and tune up within the first 3 months of ownership and use Brompton original parts for all servicing.

 

Will there be a difference in function or performance from a new Brompton?

Nope! Every used Brompton will undergo a full tuneup and safety check. You may notice visible signs of wear and tear, but they will be safe and mechanically sound for many more rides to come. 

What can I expect when purchasing a used Brompton?

You may  see nicks and scratches on common wear areas on the bike. Contact points such as the grips and saddle will not be replaced unless required. Our capable crew can help you to take your pre-loved Brompton to the next level with a variety of upgrade accessories and parts. Doing this will allow for your EX Brompton to be personalized to your liking.
