MILANO STEP-THRU - 2020
The Devinci Milano, unlike most bikes designed in California (for weekend warriors on perpetually sunny bike paths), is designed for the the potholes, streetcar tracks and dodgy pavements on the way there. With a tough aluminum frame and wheels to make a touring bike envious, the Milano may be a mere touch heavier than the Trek next door, but it's not apologizing - it's designed for Canada.
The Devinci Milano's Hybrid Aluminum frame combines the lightweight and agile characteristics of a road bike with the comfort and control of a mountain bike with a step-through geometry for easy access and a more comfortable upright position. Couple that with a reliable drivetrain, lightweight wheels, and this is a bike that will take you from Monday through Sunday looking as good as you ride.

Devinci Company History: Cycles Devinci is what you might call a true Canadian brand, established in Chicoutimi, Quebec in 1987 by two enthusiastic engineering students. In 1990 Felix Gauthier purchased half the company moving the brand into its contemporary role as an international player in both road and mountain bike manufacturing.
The brand has grown its U.S. and international distribution channels and is now a key supplier of professional road, mountain and hybrid bikes not to mention the outstanding success of the Bixi bikes used in bicycle sharing schemes in cities such as Toronto, Montreal and London, England.
What’s the difference between the Milano and the St Tropez?
As you move up the Devinci line you buy more distance and speed. The Milano has 3x7 gear system (21 speeds) while the St Tropez has 3x8 system (24 speeds). But these three extra gears add a ton more range. The Milano has a 14 Tooth small cog while the St Tropez features a much speedier 11 Tooth, giving the St Tropez 21% more gear range on the fast side. So if your pace is leisurely go for the Milano. But, if you enjoy a longer ride, more speed and greater gear range, the St Tropez is for you.
Is this bike good for riding in the city?
Being from Quebec, Devinci knows the urban Canadian cyclist very well. Unlike many other hybrids on the market, Devinci makes bikes that are as great for recreational rides as they are for inner-city use. Compared to their competition, a Devinci’s frame and wheels are stronger, many parts are rust-resistant, and the tires feature a puncture resistant Kevlar layer. However, if you’re looking for all-season bike we recommend something with an internal gear hub.
This bike is aluminum, will it dent easily?
Nope! Devinci is Canadian and the city cyclist is well on their radar. Whereas most hybrid bikes are made for Sunday rides and stops at the ice-cream stand, Devinci’s feature a tough frame that can be locked next to steel poles all day while you’re at work (or grabbing an ice-cream!)
Will this bike rust?
Heck no! The great thing about Aluminum frames is that they can’t rust.
The wheels are quick release, how do I prevent theft?
Alas, most bikes sold in North America assume that you will someday put your bike into a car, which means you need to rapidly disassemble it. If your bike is your car, then you’re often left wondering why the wheels are so easy to steal. We recommend bolting the wheels on with a wheel lock system, either from Pinhead (which feature unique keys) or Evo (which use a non-standard tool).
Why do you not carry the womens model?
The women’s model is the exact same thing as the regular (unisex) models but features “more feminine” colours – whatever that means. On principle, we try to keep all of our purchasing as unisex as possible, but if you see something that you like we can always order it.
How do I ensure my new bike won’t get stolen?
Estimates are that over 90% of bicycle theft is tied to cash-for-drugs and this (unfortunately) makes every bike a target. Make sure you buy a good U-lock or a chain and your bike will be safe. You can read more about bike theft here.
What’s the warranty?
Lifetime warranty for manufacturer defects on frame and fork, one year on parts. Does not include wear and tear.
