The Devinci Hex Sora is a bike that refuses to be categorized. Whether you're tackling your daily commute, exploring gravel roads, or pedaling your way to the top of your local Strava leaderboard; the Hex is a flat bar gravel bike that can do it all. This Canadian designed bike perfectly balances speed, stability and responsiveness to feel equally at home on both paved and unpaved roads.

The new Hex features a lightweight and agile aluminum frame similar to that used on the best-selling Devinci Hatchet but redesigned for a flat handlebar. Its long wheelbase, carbon fork, ample tire clearance and flat handlebar make for a silky-smooth, fast and comfortable ride. Shifting is a breeze with the Shimano Sora 2X9 drivetrain, while the Tektro hydraulic disc brakes help to keep your speed in check in all weather and road conditions. The hidden cable routing and smooth lines of the Hex are the icing on the cake that will turn heads wherever you ride.

  • Lightweight Aluminum frame with dropped seat stays providing all day comfort
  • Carbon Fork is super light and dampens road vibrations
  • Shimano Sora 2X9 Compact gearing flattens out hills
  • Tektro Hydraulic disc brakes for controlled, all-weather braking performance
  • Lightweight and strong double walled alloy wheels
  • Clearance for up to 40mm wide tires, maximizing comfort and traction
  • Internal cable routing for sleek and clean aesthetic
  • Mounts for bottle cage, pannier rack and fenders
  • Designed in Canada

    Devinci Hex Geometry 2018

Devinci Company History: Cycles Devinci is what you might call a true Canadian brand, established in Chicoutimi, Quebec in 1987 by two enthusiastic engineering students. In 1990 Felix Gauthier purchased half the company moving the brand into its contemporary role as an international player in both road and mountain bike manufacturing.

The brand has grown its U.S. and international distribution channels and is now a key supplier of professional road, mountain and hybrid bikes not to mention the outstanding success of the Bixi bikes used in bicycle sharing schemes in cities such as Toronto, Montreal and London, England.

What s the difference between the Hex Sora and the Hex Tiagra?

Lots! The Tiagra uses a 2x10-speed gear system that fine-tunes pedaling RPM’s while shifting is faster and crisper. The Tiagra’s crankset features external bearings and a larger radius spindle that greatly increases pedaling efficiency by reducing lateral flex (it’s lighter too). And, with a large basket of lighter parts the Tiagra model is 4% lighter than the Sora model. The Sora model is great for the long distance cyclist, while Tiagra is fined-tuned for higher performance.

What’s the deal with carbon fiber forks?

Carbon fiber is light, stiff, and unlike aluminum – which is also light and stiff – it’s remarkably compliant, making a longer ride more comfortable. Since most road vibration comes up through the fork – which is the leading edge of the bike – it makes sense to use carbon fiber forks, since it gives your neck and shoulders a break over long rides. Carbon fiber also lightens up the front end, adding to overall performance.

What’s the deal with disc brakes?

Disc brakes are awesome, here’s why: (1) because they stop the bike close to the center of the wheels rotation you get significantly more power, (2) unlike rim brakes, they sit high above puddles so braking performance is consistent in (most) weather, (3) they require less tuning and the pads last longer. They add a bit of weight, but it’s good weight!

Is this bike good for riding in the city?

Being from Quebec, Devinci knows the urban Canadian cyclist very well. Unlike many other hybrids on the market, Devinci makes bikes that are as great for recreational rides as they are for inner-city use. Compared to their competition, a Devinci’s frame and wheels are stronger, many parts are rust-resistant, and the tires feature a puncture resistant Kevlar layer. However, if you’re looking for all-season bike we recommend something with an internal gear hub.

This bike is aluminum, will it dent easily?
Nope! Devinci is Canadian and the city cyclist is well on their radar. Whereas most hybrid bikes are made for Sunday rides and stops at the ice-cream stand, Devinci’s feature a tough frame that can be locked next to steel poles all day while you’re at work (or grabbing an ice-cream!)

The wheels are quick release, how do I prevent theft?

Alas, most bikes sold in North America assume that you will someday put your bike into a car, which means you need to rapidly disassemble it. If your bike is your car, then you’re often left wondering why the wheels are so easy to steal. We recommend bolting the wheels on with a wheel lock system, either from Pinhead (which feature unique keys) or Evo (which use a non-standard tool).

Why do you not carry the womens model?
The women’s model is the exact same thing as the regular (unisex) models but features “more feminine” colours – whatever that means. On principle, we try to keep all of our purchasing as unisex as possible, but if you see something that you like we can always order it.

How do I ensure my new bike won’t get stolen?

Estimates are that over 90% of bicycle theft is tied to cash-for-drugs and this (unfortunately) makes every bike a target. Make sure you buy a good U-lock or a chain and your bike will be safe. You can read more about bike theft here.

    What’s the warranty?

Lifetime warranty for manufacturer defects on frame and fork, one year on parts. Does not include wear and tear.
