SADDLE MAINTENANCE KIT
The Brooks Saddle Maintenance Kit includes all you need to take care of your Brooks Saddle. Owning a Brooks saddle is a commitment to quality, and we want you to get the best out of the whole experience. The Maintenance Kit features all the usual tricks of the trade that Brooks lovers everywhere use to keep their leather in peak condition. A tin of proofide, a fine cotton cloth, and a Brooks spanner (or wrench, as we Commonwealth citizens tend to call it) are the triple threat you need to ensure otherworldly comfort.
Please note that the standard spanner works on most models with the exception of the Swallow Titanium, which has its specific spanner, and the Swift Titanium, which can be tensioned with an allen key
Caring for your Brooks Saddle: Just like a pair of leather shoes, Brooks saddles have to be treated once or twice a year with Proofide, a mix of natural oils, which keeps the saddle from drying out. All Brooks saddles have the ability to tighten (stretch) the leather as it sags. Tightening the leather keeps the saddle feeling like new for years to come. Brooks saddles are not waterproof so we recommend keeping them covered in wet conditions. If the bicycle is stored outside, using a Brooks Waterproof Saddle Cover will protect your saddle in even the harshest of showers.

Brooks Company History: Brooks England was founded in 1866 by John Boultbee Brooks, originally to manufacture leather harnesses and tackle for horses. Legend has it that the death of Mr. Brooks’ horse prompted him to seek alternative transportation, trying out the recent two-wheeled invention, the bicycle. He fell in love but found the wooden saddle excruciating. He vowed to make it more comfortable and so the Brooks leather saddle was born.
Today Brooks manufacture a wide range of bicycle accessories from backpacks, bicycle panniers and saddle bags to helmets, poncho’s and wallets and to this day all Brooks Leather Saddles are still hand made by skilled craftspeople using traditional methods in Birmingham, England and the fundamental design of the saddles is unchanged. While the new Cambium range, helmets and bags are all made in Italy.
