ASHINGTON OMA - DUTCH STEP THROUGH
The Achielle Ashington Oma is the work horse of Dutch bikes. Using the same exquisite frame used on the top drawer Craighton but dressed in more minimal and economically minded components. Hand-drawn tubes, hand-brazed, galvanized, hand-painted, hand-assembled and built using simple trusted components that will outlast you. Each step an accountability in the relentless pursuit of building investment-grade, lifetime products.
Our Achielle Ashington Oma bikes all have Shimano Nexus 3 speed gearing giving a massive range of gears in a weatherproof and maintenance free hub, Shimano roller brakes take care of the stopping without the need to ever change brake pads again, Bolted on battery lights prevent theft, Selle Royal saddle and grips are super comfortable, rolling on Stainless steel rims with Schwalbe puncture resistant tires and colour matching fenders, chain case and rear rack finish off the Dutch look.
So, if you're looking for a real Dutch bike? Look no further than Belgium and the beautiful Achielle Ashington Oma. Belgium has kept up the bicycle building tradition that much of Holland has lost to cost-cutting and overseas production.
About a century ago bicycles companies weren't much different than your local baker, there was one in each village and each one did things a bit differently. In Holland, these companies expanded to different provinces, then different countries, and each time this happened something essential was lost - quality being one. Not Achielle. They still hand build and assemble their bikes in Pittem, Belgium - and the Craighton is their masterpiece.

ACHIELLE COMPANY HISTORY: Achielle have effectively been making bikes in the traditional way since 1946. Starting from humble beginnings in a family owned bicycle shop in Zwevezele to the present modern factory in Pittem (Egem). The inspiration for Achielle bicycles stems from the early 20th century Dutch bikes and then combining these with modern technological advances. What makes Achielle truly unique is that all steel frames are still produced in our own factory. From steel tube to complete bicycle in one workshop. So, when Achielle say Handmade in Belgium. They mean from start to finish.
