Butchers & Bicycles (so named for the meat-packing district in Copenhagen where their office lies) may be the greatest proof that the cargo bike market is dead serious about increasing relevance through innovation. Most bikes tend to betray the same level of engineering, which isn't low but isn't terribly high either. One look at the CV of Butchers and Bicycles demonstrates that the bike industry has some talented new players. Two of the founders designed windmills for Denmarks Vestas Windsystems and the other worked for Danish design powerhouse Menu A/S. To see a product this well-built, this integrated, this perfect is refreshing. Whether or not they know it, B&B is the evolution of the Danish Nihola cargo bike - which itself is the evolution of the Dutch cargo bike. That arguably makes B&B the most evolved cargo bike on the planet. A Nihola's claim to fame is the independent steering that makes it the only decent handling three-wheeler on the market. Not content with this, B&B built an independent steering cargo bike that actually tilts into corners. It's not quite as stable as a Nihola, but it's the most intuitive cargo bike on the market. Add the Bosch e-assist and there's no reason to own a car ever again.
