Goodbye Rob Ford - and, thanks for the bike lanes
Posted on 27 November 2012
Yesterday morning's news of Rob Ford being removed from his post as Mayor if Toronto was exhilarating to say the least! As the fourth largest city in North America we should be proud to have a robust all-weather, all-inclusive bike culture (take that Mexico, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago!), but instead we are remembered by Rob Ford, our bicycle hating mayor. A man who wanted to increase the insane cost of gridlock downtown in order to end the supposed war on the car? Who's the idealist now?
Strangely, did you know that more bike lanes were paved under Rob Ford's tenure than previous mayor David Miller? I guess thanks for the memories, Rob. Or the PTSD. Or the bike lanes. Yeesh.
