Dutch Cyclocross
Posted on 03 July 2013
What a lovely (lovely? Maybe more like lively, intense and challenging) ride we had last Monday night! We were a small group, which meant we were all able to get to know each other and all over-indulge in the homemade chocolate chip cookies.
We rode down into the Don valley at dusk and emerged in the dark near Mount Pleasant Cemetery after a super-fun but challenging ravine crossing. Which included the invention of Dutch-bike cyclocross(!) What!? It’s a thing now, I’m thinking of starting a league.
The Kay Gardiner trail is dreamy and tunnel-like at night, and we were glad we had a few really bright headlights to light up the path. One magical highlight of the ride was arriving in Cedarvale Park at just the right time to watch a bright red moon rise above the trees. We tried to take some pictures, but taking pictures of the moon is not easy, so we settled for pictures of people looking at the moon. The whole thing was a super fun adventure. Dutch Bike cyclocross is my new favourite sport!!
